seven years

chemistry

My favorite things about him are the way he offers to drive, that he remembers my favorite everything, and how his fingers untangle my hair. He spends about 3 seconds considering what to wear, he's always willing to try new food but also offers the last bite, and he seems to know every athlete to ever play for the Oakland A's. You don't notice them at first, but he has the sweetest blue eyes and the longest lashes-- it's almost unfair. He's the quietest guy in the room but the silliest with my nieces and just about any dog/cat/animal. I can't remember the last time we said good night without a kiss.

He chooses his words carefully, so you know he always means it. I like that he double-knots his laces, that he once asked me what "emo" meant, and that I can never guess what song he's trying to sing. He's the most genuine, the most comfortable, the most everything. And he doesn't even realize it.

Happy 7 years, love.

peach pickin'

amidst the orchard
Last weekend my family took a quick day trip inland to pick fresh fruit at some Brentwood farms. Our first, most memorable stop was at a quiet peach orchard right off the main road.

rules & trouble raine madre up raiza rimram peaches by my 13 year old nephew?
The peaches were so soft that 2-almost-3-year-old Raiza would squish the fruit as she tried to pull them off the trees. They were the sweetest, juiciest peaches I'd ever had and we ended up bringing 66 pounds home with us.

Nothing smells better than the sweet scent of peaches as you hold them close to your nose.

like summer

Summer in San Francisco is funny. It's usually overcast, oftentimes windy, and sunny days are more surprising than grey days.

summer
And while it rarely feels like summer all the time, it's easy to find glimpses of summer in the everyday: a bike ride home (the long way), flowers against a yellow house, quiet brunch mornings and sunsets that look like the world is on fire.

A few months ago, my first engagement shoot brought me back to my alma matter and gave me a new appreciation for the campus' quieter spots. I met Lily and David on a whim-- my freshmen year RA wrote asking if I'd be interested in taking some photos and before I knew it, I was back on campus with the perspective of an artist instead of student.

I'm still new at this, but I like it so far.

PS - Please excuse the messy blog. I'm still working on the coding to tweak Katrina's (updated) Lemon Meringue template. My favorite part of this makeover so far was watching the tutorial video and seeing my name and site mentioned. Katrina sure is a doll.

wolfe's

I don't know how often newspapers, magazines, and the food world come to Wolfe's-- or that they do at all. It's a modest little diner in Potrero, quiet and unassuming. They serve anything from breakfast to burgers, but we come for the Korean.

We're really fortunate to have fresh lunches at work but sometimes you just need to get out of the office. Wolfe's Lunch has become our go-to: Amy gets the bulgoki and I get veggie bibimbap. Sometimes Etan and Pauline come along, too.

No matter what, we always leave with rice-filled bellies, happy to have our own little gem of a diner.
