At first I thought this was just a Capbreton thing, but one of the things I've come to adore about France is that most of the houses have beautiful, colorful wooden shutters. They're so elegant when they decorate large apartment buildings like this, but I also think they add a lot of charm when they "accent" simple homes like these.
(And, you'd probably think they aren't functional, but after staying in a few houses I've seen that they have insulated windows inside and the shutters are more like outdoor shades).
It reminds me of all of the Irish painted doors I used to see. Such a nice pop of color!
ReplyDeleteSuch a quaint, rustic charm to them. The pop of color adds a lovely simplicity.

ReplyDeletei love shutters and you don't see them here very often. they remind me fair tales and i am not sure why but if i had a house it would have colored wooden shutters!

ReplyDeleteWe have non functional shutters on our house... It'd be neat if they were useful, but I think they are cute anyhow.
